Diabetes has become an ordinary disease throughout the world. America alone has 16 million diabetics. In spite of several awareness programs and campaigns, diabetes continues to be the most common disease for mankind. The last century has seen drastic increase in diabetic patients.
What is diabetes? It means the presence of high level of sugar in blood. The necessary glucose contents are lost by the body when blood sugar level is high. Lack of insulin or absence of insulin is the cause for diabetes. The number of diabetics keeps on increasing.
Causes of diabetes
Age plays an important role in diabetes. The disease may occur at any age but most common for people above 50 years of age. Insufficient nutrients in food, low protein foods, and less intake of fiber; all these cause blood sugar level to increase. The body mass index (BMI) may also play a role for diabetes attack. So, obese people are prone to diabetes. Inactive lifestyle is a major cause for diabetes.
Symptoms of diabetes
There are various symptoms that can be found in diabetic patients. Frequent urination is the common and compulsory symptom in a diabetic patient. Frequent urination will lead to frequent thirsty. Diabetic patients will lack in energy and will appear emotionally tired. The vision will get blurred. The appetite rate will be more than the usual. Sudden weight loss may wonder you. The skin will turn dry and itchy.
Treatment
Since there are lots of symptoms, it is easy to self-assess whether there could be diabetic attack or not. The blood sugar level should be checked regularly and it ids compulsory for people above 45 years to maintain correct blood sugar levels. Insulin injections and implantable insulin pumps are the most sought out remedies for blood sugar. There are also some natural ways of curing diabetes. The two types of diabetes i.e. type 1 and type 2 diabetes requires exercises and balanced diet which is a part of curing treatment. There are some home remedies which can be tried to reduce blood sugar levels.
- Add bitter lemon to the diet. Continuously eat bitter lemon items at least once in a day for three months.
- Soak black raisins in water at nights. Strain the water at next day mornings and drink the water solution. A good result can be achieved in few days.
- Indian plums, tomatoes and oranges are beneficial for diabetes patients. Add these fruits to the diet. But only a part of them should be consumed, not fully.
